Privacy policy
Information collected
Kanji A Day does not include advertising, analytics, third-party tracking, or a developer-operated account system. The app does not sell personal information.
The app stores the study information needed to provide its flashcard and scheduling features:
- Review history and scheduling information for studied characters, including attempt counts, correct-answer counts, review dates, next-review dates, and remembered streaks.
- Study preferences, including whether obsolete kana are included, whether kana or kanji appears first, and the selected estimated Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) levels.
Kanji A Day stores this study information on your device. When you are signed into iCloud and iCloud is available to the app, Apple CloudKit also stores the information in your private iCloud database. This lets the app restore and synchronize progress and preferences across your devices. Apple provides CloudKit synchronization under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Kanji A Day uses Apple’s StoreKit for optional in-app purchases. Apple processes purchases and manages entitlement history. The app does not store purchase entitlements in the study database or include them in study-data exports.
Data retention and control
Kanji A Day retains local and synchronized study information to preserve progress and preferences between launches and across your devices. Removing the app from one device deletes that local copy but does not delete information already synchronized to your private iCloud database.
The Settings screen provides the following controls:
- Export Study Data creates a portable JSON copy of your review history, scheduling information, and study preferences. You choose where to save or share it through Apple’s Share Sheet. Kanji A Day does not delete exported files.
- Reset Progress deletes review history and scheduling information while keeping study preferences and purchases. The deletion synchronizes through iCloud to your other devices.
- Reset All Preferences returns the synchronized study preferences to their defaults while keeping progress and purchases.
- Delete Synced Study Data deletes review history and study preferences from your device and private iCloud database. If you start the deletion offline, CloudKit synchronizes it when service becomes available. The deletion propagates to your other devices. In-app purchases remain associated with your App Store account.
You can manage the app’s iCloud access through Apple’s system settings. Changes to your Apple Account or iCloud settings may affect whether the app can access stored data.
